Everyday Girls Modelling Program
In my first Lookbook I had a range of photos of my youngest daughter, when she was in Grade 5 and 6 and it was to promote my special occasion dresses I made. As she is now much older, it was time to look for some new faces. I decided I wanted to find a group of girls who had not modelled before, but were happy to be photographed having fun while wearing my dresses.
As I talked to people about my business and how I was starting the photo sessions, I had many offers of girls willing to be a part of this. In the end, what I thought was going to hard, became easy and I quickly had 5 girls for fittings. So without any prior meeting, I arranged fittings times and worked out which dresses would fit each of the girls, who ages ranged from 9 to 13. It is important to me that the girls feel comfortable, so I found a photographer who had worked with families and children before, and progressively scheduled 3 photoshoots, to cover all the types of photos I needed.
For this age group, I didn’t want the girls to wear make-up, just to look natural and that they could wear their hair the way they felt comfortable. There were 2 photoshoots at the Boutique and 1 at the photographer’s studio. The fun part exceeded my expectations and I was so happy when the girls all told me what fun they had. The Mothers all followed up with me and had really appreciated a great experience for their daughters.
The one particularly special moment for me was at the end of a long afternoon at the studio, we were photographing the 7th scene, and it was the very last photo of the day. It was a group photo of 4 of the girls around a pretty pink table setting for the party dress scene and the youngest girls said, “Can we hug?”. That said it all, the girls put their arms around each other and that made it feel like it was a greatly successful day.
If you know any girls 9 to 15 years old who would be interested to be a part of the ongoing photoshoots, for social media, the website and advertising material, please email me, sue@betweenforgirls.com.au
